Team Talks: Meet Belen, Team Lead EOR Spain & Portugal
Welcome to another edition of Team Talks, where we highlight the incredible people behind Parakar. In this edition, we introduce Belen, our Team Lead for Employer of Record (EOR) services in Spain and Portugal. With nearly three years at Parakar, Belen plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with local labor laws and supporting both clients and employees. Let’s explore her journey, her passion for international HR, and what makes Parakar a unique place to work.
From Law to International HR: Belen’s Career Journey
Belen holds a degree in HR Relations & Labor Law from Madrid and an MBA from UDC in A Coruña. Before joining Parakar, she gained experience in a law firm, a major construction company, and various HR consulting and operations roles.
“What drew me to international HR was the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, handling different markets, diverse legal frameworks, and people from various cultures. The global nature of Parakar makes every day different, which keeps things exciting!”
What does a Team Lead EOR do?
As Team Lead for EOR Spain and Portugal, Belen ensures full compliance with local employment laws, advises clients and partners on HR policies, and supports employees and businesses with any HR-related concerns. She also works on improving internal processes and aligning them with global best practices.
A typical day in Belen’s role includes:
- Reviewing and responding to HR-related inquiries from employees and clients
- Ensuring compliance by reviewing reports, operational systems, and employment contracts
- Holding meetings with internal teams and clients to align on HR strategies and process improvements
- Leading projects such as policy reviews and benefit implementations
One of the biggest challenges in her role is staying ahead of ever-changing labor laws. Belen overcomes this by continuously learning through legal resources, HR networks, and industry updates.
“What I love the most about Parakar is the team spirit and flexibility. It’s a place where ideas are valued, and I always feel supported!”
Inside Parakar’s company culture
Belen describes Parakar’s work culture as collaborative, innovative, and fast-paced. She highlights the company’s strong teamwork and supportive environment, where colleagues help each other grow professionally.
“Parakar isn’t just another HR provider. We genuinely care about the people we work with, both internally and externally. It’s not just about processes; it’s about making a real impact on employees’ work experiences across different countries.”
Making an Impact
One of Belen’s proudest accomplishments is the implementation of new employee benefits and mentoring her team to develop their skills and advance in their careers.
“Seeing the impact of small improvements on employee satisfaction is incredibly rewarding. I’m also proud of how my local team continues to grow professionally.”
An unexpected challenge? “Finding legal solutions that fit different cases can be tough but also very fulfilling.”
To stay ahead in the field, Belen follows HR and labor law publications, participates in webinars, and engages in industry networks.
