Today, we introduce Marvin Hilgers, our International Operations Consultant for HR in Germany. Marvin’s diverse background and passion for human connection make him an invaluable asset to our team.

From Hospitality to HR: Marvin’s Journey

Marvin’s professional path spans over 15 years across various industries, including hospitality, tourism, and co-working spaces. He began his career in hairdressing, where he discovered his affinity for human interaction. This passion led him to the hospitality sector in Spain, where he spent seven years in customer-facing roles. After completing his studies, Marvin returned to Germany and transitioned into the co-working industry. It was during this time, while pursuing a part-time Business Administration degree, that he found his true calling in HR.

“Human connections are at the core of my personal philosophy, and that’s why I feel so at home in HR, it allows me to engage with people on a deeper level while helping them succeed.”

International HR at Parakar

In his role at Parakar, Marvin provides HR guidance to international clients, partners, and employees, covering areas such as labor law, contracts, and Blue Card applications.

Marvin’s day-to-day responsibilities are dynamic, involving client inquiries, contract management, team collaboration, and addressing new challenges as they arise. He thrives on the balance between structure and spontaneity that his role offers and the opportunities to develop and grow.

“Managing tasks across HR and Payroll can be demanding at times, especially when I’m learning new areas. However, I always feel supported by my team, and their guidance makes tackling challenges much easier.”

Making an Impact

Marvin continuously expands his skill set, particularly in Payroll, and in assisting international employees in settling into their new lives in Germany. He finds fulfillment in guiding and supporting people through transitions.

“People may not realize just how personal and people-focused HR can be. Beyond contracts and legalities, HR is about connecting with individuals, understanding their needs, and supporting their growth.”

To stay updated of the latest trends and developments in HR practices and regulations, Marvin engages with professional platforms, attends internal training sessions, and learns from his colleagues. Parakar supports a culture of continuous learning, enabling the team to stay ahead in the field.
