What are the legislative changes for 2024 in Italy?

Parental leave changes in 2024
During the first 12 years of the child’s life, parents are entitled to take a period of absence to take care of their children. Parental leave can be taken by the mother and by the father for a maximum period of six months. Alternatively, the leave can be taken by one parent only for a maximum period of 10 months. Single parent is entitled to 11 months of parental leave.
During parental leave, indemnity up to 30% paid by INPS up to a maximum period of 9 months. During the specified timeframe, parents can take a maximum of one month of parental leave and receive compensation amounting to 80% of their salary until the child turns six, rotating between them as per their preference. For 2024, it is established that the allowance relating to the second month will also be recognized to the extent of 80% of the salary (as currently provided only for the first month).
